Epworth Performing Arts Academy was established in 2009 by principal, Nicola Long. EPAA initially opened as a dance school, expanding to teach singing and drama in 2010.
The teachers at EPAA are dedicated to passing on their knowledge, with a balanced mix of technique and putting that technique into practice and giving all students the chance to perform.
All our teachers are CRB/DBS checked.
EPAA have done their main performances at the Plowright Theatre in recent years.
All our dance students are entered into exams with the BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dancing). To date we are very proud to state we have a 100% pass rate. We have entered exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Freestyle and Acro and will soon be adding Jazz and Dance and Drama to the list as we continually seek to expand and improve.
Although we do no focus on festivals and competitions, we have entered occasionally and come away with medals and certificates. Any students wishing to enter competitions will be fully supported.
All our classes are held at Epworth Imperial Hall where we have excellent facilities, including a stage and recently updated backstage area. We are the proud owners of a 6m inflatable tumble track to help us with our acro skills and tricks. This is used at The Academy, Mini Stars, occasional special dance classes, as well as in our designated Acro classes. We have already seen a notable increase in confidence and improved skills since making this investment.
